Introduction and overview


Born to Mrs. Sonam Choden and Mr.Choney Phuntsho on 29 September 1970 at Shashing village under Yangtse gewog in Tashi Yangtse, Thinley Wangchuk grew up in the village with his seven other siblings. He began his primary schooling at the age of eight in Tashi Yangtse Lower Secondary School which was then a primary school. The very school he attended was then the only primary school in Tashi Yangtse Dungkhag with classes ranging from Lower Kindergarten to Class five.

Starting from the Autumn semester of 2021, I started working and teaching from Rinpung campus, Paro College of Education, located near Paro Rinpung Dzong. The campus has been renovated and provided a positive vibe of learning and teaching science education to the students of primary teachers under the leadership of President Dr Dorji Thinley.

  Thinley Wangchuk is an educator with more than three decades of professional experience at Paro College of Education, one of Bhutan’s premier teacher education institutions. He has been actively involved in the teaching and mentoring of pre-service and in-service teachers for the last 30 years with a strong academic focus on science education and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education modules. Through the integration of scientific inquiry, conceptual understanding and digital competencies in teacher education programs, he has made a substantial contribution to the strengthening of pedagogical practices throughout his career.
